
Flashes End Run at National Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- The No. 5 Kent State women's golf season came to an end Monday afternoon as the team wrapped up the final round of stroke play in the 2019 NCAA National Championship at The Blessings Golf Club.
The Flashes shot 297 (+5) in the final round for a 930 (+54) three-round total. Kent State climbed four spots up the leaderboard in the final round and finished 17th overall.
"It was great to see this team finish strong today and move up the leaderboard," said head coach Greg Robertson. "We struggled a bit in the first two rounds and didn't have the tournament we were hoping for, but that doesn't take away from everything this team has accomplished all year."
"It's been such a fun team that has worked so hard on golf, and we couldn't be more proud to have coached this group."
For Kent State, senior Michaela Finn paced the Flashes in the final round shooting a 2-under 71 score. Finn completed the round with six birdies. The senior finished the tournament tied for 37th at 10-over 229. Finn led the team with a total of 10 birdies for the tournament and averaged 3-under on all par-fives throughout the tournament.
Junior Pimnipa Panthong finished tied for 66th at 15-over 234. Panthong fired a third-round score of 1-over 74 with birdies on No. 5, 7, and 13.
Junior Karoline Stormo mirrored her second round score with a 2-over 75 with a pair of birdies in the final round. Stormo completed the tournament with a 17-over 236 and tied for 79th. Sophomore Chloe Salort finished tied for 86th at 18-over 237 after she fired a 4-over 77 in the final round.
Freshman Thitapa Pakdeesettakul golfed in the fifth spot for Kent State and shot a 79 (+6) for her third round and a 242 (+23) total. Pakdeesettakul led the team with 35 total pars.
Over the 55-holes, Kent State shot the third-most amount of pars in the tournament with 158 total alongside 27 birdies.
Kent State earned its third-straight appearance in the National Championship after winning the program's first NCAA Regional title at the NCAA East Lansing Regional.
