KENT, Ohio- Following a record-setting season, Kent State University junior Karoline Stormo was named All-America Honorable Mention by the Women's Golf Coaches Association on Thursday afternoon.
This is the first All-American honor for Stormo and the seventh in program history.
Stormo, who is coming off her third NCAA Championship appearance, stands at No. 34 in the latest Golfstat individual rankings. She ranks 15th nationally in scoring average (71.85), a third-best in program history.
She had five top-5 finishes this season and tied a Kent State single-season win record with four tournament titles. The junior currently leads the nation with 136 birdies and ranks third-most in KSU history. In the conference tournament, Stormo was crowned the MAC Championships individual medalist, while being awarded MAC Golfer of the Year.
Earlier this month, Stormo qualified for the U.S. Women's Open and was selected to play in the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup.
In addition to her work on the course, Stormo is a two-time member of the Academic All-MAC Team and was a 2017-18 WGCA All-American Scholar.
As a team, Kent State set a program record winning seven tournaments, including the MAC Championships and the program's first-ever regional win at the NCAA East Lansing Regional. The squad also collected a school-record 288.15 scoring average on the year.
