CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference revealed its women's Golfer of the Week recipient on Friday, with Kent State's Veronika Kedronova earning the honor. Competing for the Kent State Dr. Paula Treckel women's golf team last weekend at the Landfall Tradition, Kedronova finished atop the field of 96 golfers for the individual title in the team's final event of the Fall.
Kedronova set a new program record for lowest 54-hole score at the Landfall Tradition, rewriting the record book with a 13-under-par 203. The junior secured a dominant seven-stroke victory over an extremely strong field that included five top-25 teams, not counting the Flashes. It is Kedronova's second consecutive individual victory and the fifth of her collegiate career, bringing her to a tie for fourth place in career wins in program history. Her second-round score of 65 matched the second-lowest round in program history and tied for the lowest round in the history of the prestigious Landfall Tradition. Kedronova's 16 birdies across three rounds were the most in the field.
In addition to winning the MAC Golfer of the Week award, the conference also announced earlier this week that Kedronova is the MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week. It marks the second time this Fall she has received the award that is given to athletes who show excellence in competition and in the classroom.
After a successful Fall season, Kedronova and the Flashes will take a brief hiatus for the Winter, before the Spring season begins on January 25 at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Florida.
