KENT, Ohio-Â Kent State junior Karoline Stormo was one of just 12 golfers selected to play for the international team at the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup. The Ryder Cup-style competition will be played June 7-9 at the Alotian Club in Little Rock, Ark.
"This is a tremendous honor for Karoline," said head coach Greg Robertson. "It's a result of her hard work and the passion she has for the game. She's had one of the most successful seasons in program history and Coach Swaney and I couldn't be more proud to have her represent Kent State at the Palmer Cup."
Stormo ranks ninth nationally in scoring average (71.70), a third-best in program history. She has seven top-5 finishes and tied a Kent State single-season win record with four tournament titles. The junior currently leads the nation with 122 birdies and ranks third-most in KSU history. In the conference tournament, Stormo was crowned the MAC Championships individual medalist, while being awarded MAC Golfer of the Year.
Stormo's selection to the Palmer Cup is the second for Kent State as a program, and the Flashes now have two selections back-to-back years. Stormo and the Flashes will travel to East Lansing, Mich. over the weekend to compete in the NCAA East Lansing Regional May 6-8 at the Forest Akers West Golf Course.Â
