
Flashes Continue to Shoot Low at Maui Jim

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.- Led by Josh Gilkison's 3-under 67, the Kent State men's golf team went low again during Saturday's second round of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate.
After going 11-under in the first round, the Flashes shot 7-under 273 in the second round and have a two-day total of an 18-under 542 (269-273). The Flashes head into the final round trailing leader Arizona by 10 shots.
All five of the Flashes shot for par or better on Saturday.
Leading the second round was Gilkison who shot a 3-under 67 and lead's Kent State in second place. His round today included four birdies and only one bogey. Through 36 holes, Gilkison is 10-under 130.
Julien Paltrinieri is tied for 27th at 3-under 137 after he fired a 2-under 68 score. Paltrinieri's round consisted of three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 No. 5 hole.
Will Kurtz, Cade Breitenstine, and Chris Vandette are all tired for 30th at 2-under 138. Kurtz carded an even-par 70 with four birdies. Breitenstine went 17 holes for par or better with three birdies for a 2-under par score, while Vandette also finished at 2-under par. Vandette fired five birdies in the second round.
Kent State will be paired with Pepperdine and Utah for Sunday's final round, which begins at 7:50 a.m. MST on the first tee. Live scoring can be followed at Golfstat.com.
