Flashes Travel to Texas for TWU Quad

Kent, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team will travel to Denton, Texas to compete in the Texas Woman's Quad this Sunday, January 26 at 2 p.m. The Golden Flashes will take on Texas Woman's, UW-Oshkosh and Lindenwood.
The Flashes are coming off a first-place finish at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational, where the team won the floor with four individuals finishing in the top five of the event. Freshman Rachel DeCavitch won every event and the all-around with a score of 39.400. DeCavitch scored 9.875 on vault, 9.800 on bars, 9.875 on beam and 9.850 on floor. Freshmen Karlie Franz and Olivia Amodei placed second and third in the all-around competition with scores of 38.950 and 38.900.
About Texas Woman's
The Pioneers finished the 2019 season ranked 55th in the country. They opened the 2020 season on the road competing at the Michigan Tri meet where they finished with a score of 189.850. No. 9 Michigan won the event edging out Washington with a score of 195.650. Senior Bria Northrop led the Pioneers on floor (9.775) and vault (9.800).
About UW-Oshkosh
The Titans competed against UW- La Crosse to open the 2019 season. In the 2019 season, Junior Jessica Bernardo was the Titans leading all-around scorer with a season high of 37.925. So far in the 2020 season, senior Baylee Tkaczuk leads the Titans on bars with a season high score of 9.600.
About Lindenwood
The Lions finished the 2019 season ranked 36th in the country. They opened the 2020 season on the road competing at the Illinois Tri Meet, where they finished second with a score of 192.675. No. 17 Illinois won the event with a score of 195.525. Freshman Gayla Griswold led the Lions on floor scoring 9.850. In the Kentucky Quad meet on January 17 senior Ryan Henry placed sixth in the all-around competition with a score of 38.950.

Kent State is 1-0 all-time vs. Lindenwood. The squads last meet up was in 2016 at Muncie, Indiana where the Flashes outscored the Lions 194.625-190.950.
Kent State is 2-0 all-time vs. UW-Oshkosh. The last meeting was in 2018 where the Flashes won scoring 195.325.
Kent State is 1-0 all-time vs. Texas Women's. The squads last met was in 1996.
