
No. 3 Women’s Golf Wins UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla.- The No. 3 Kent State women's golf team won its fourth tournament of the season- by a six-stroke margin – on Tuesday at the UCF Challenge, hosted by UCF at the Eagle Creek Golf Club.
The Flashes turned in a 21-under par three-round total of 843 (289-279-275) to capture the event. The No. 13 Michigan State placed second with a 15-under par total of 849, while No. 39 Miami finished third with a 14-under par 850.
Freshman Caley McGinty shot the lowest score of any player in Tuesday's round with a 67 (-5). McGinty recorded five birdies and had no holes over par in the final 18 holes en route to a tie for eighth place at 212 (-4).
Senior Karoline Stormo carded a 68 (-4) in the final round after she went 17 holes for par or better with five birdies. Stormo finished tied for fourth at 210 (-6). Senior Pimnipa Panthong finished in seventh at 211 (-5) after a third round score of 69 (-3).
Junior Chloe Salort finished the day with a bogey-free round of 71 (-1) score and finished the tournament tied for eighth at 212 (-4). Junior Kory Nielsen fired a 72 (E) and finished tied for 33rd at 217 (+1).
Sophomore Thitapa Pakdeesettakul, who competed as an individual, finished tied for 12th at 213 (-3) after she fired a third round of 71 (-1).
Kent State led the tournament in three categories- par 3 scoring (E), par 5 scoring (-17), and in birdies (53).
The Flashes return to action Feb. 9-11 at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.
