KENT, OHIO- The Golden Flashes head to Mount Pleasant for a MAC West Division dual with the Central Michigan Chippewas on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
The Chippewas are 5-4 overall, 5-2 MAC and have won their last three duals all against Mid-American Conference foes. Kent State is 6-10 overall and 2-5 in the MAC.
The Flashes are coming off a 16-15 heartbreaking setback against Cleveland State last Saturday night. The Flashes honored their five-man senior class but could not secure the victory. Kent State will look to bounce back and pick up their second-straight road MAC dual victory. The Flashes won at Buffalo 20-17 on January 25th.
Sunday will feature several rematches from matches earlier in the year as both teams were at the Appalachian State Open and the Cleveland State Open. Kent State 1-3 in the first go-around this season but two of the three losses came by a single point.
Both teams feature several ranked wrestlers in the latest MAC standings, released this week. The Chips have the top ranked wrestlers in the conference at the bookend spots of 125 and 285, with Drew Hildebrandt also ranked 9th nationally and Matt Stencel sporting a #4 national ranking. Dresden Simon is ranked 2nd in the MAC at 141 and 15th nationals and Logan Parks is 4th in the MAC and 18th nationally at 157. As a team, CMU comes in as the number-four team in the Mid-American Conference.
For the Flashes, both Tim Rooney (133) and Andrew McNally (174) are ranked third at their respective weights and rank in the top-25 in several rankings while Colin McCracken is unranked by the MAC but has earned a top-30 ranking at 197 by several publications.
Sunday's dual will air on ESPN+, which will require a paid subscription. The Flashes are back in action next Friday night in the regular season finale against Clarion. That dual is schedule for a 7 p.m. start.
