Flashes Fall at West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W Va.- West Virginia scored in each of the first three innings and knocked off the Golden Flashes by the final score of 8-0 on Wednesday night.
The Mountaineers used an infield single and a two-out double in the first inning to grab the early lead. From there, West Virginia used the long ball to pace the offense, slugging a solo homer in the second inning and two more in the third.
The long ball knocked starter Zach Schultz from the game, turning the game over to Peyton Deats. The lefty threw two and two thirds scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out three.
Richie Dell was phenomenal in relief of Deats. In his one and two-thirds innings, the freshman allowed just one hit and struck out the final five batters that he faced.
Kent State falls to 6-5 with the setback. They are back in action on Friday at Liberty. First pitch on Friday is set for 4 p.m., the game will be streamed on ESPN +.
