Flashes Head to Kalamazoo for Final Road Meet

KENT, Ohio – Kent State gymnastics will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. this Sunday, March 8 to take on Western Michigan at 1 p.m. in the team's last road meet of regular season.
The Golden Flashes are ranked third in the Mid-American Conference and 40th in the country with an all-around NQS of 195.070. Kent State is 32nd in the nation and leads the conference on bars with a NQS of 48.850. The Flashes are ranked second in the MAC on floor (49.055) and are 31st in the nation. The Flashes rank fourth in the conference on vault (48.860), while ranking sixth on beam (48.505).
Senior Jade Brown is ranked sixth in the MAC on floor with an NQS score of 9.840. Brown is also ranked 11th in the MAC on bars (9.785)
Freshman Rachel DeCavitch leads Kent State on bars (9.825) and all-around (38.880) ranking 5th in the MAC. DeCavitch has scored the second highest all-around score in the MAC this season scoring 39.400.
Junior Abby Fletcher is tied for 10th place in the MAC on floor with a 9.815, while freshman Karlie Franz is tied for 12th place with a 9.810.
Last Time Out
Kent State posted its second-highest score of the season (195.450) finishing first place in its annual pink meet.
Two Flashes earned individual event titles as freshman Rachel DeCavitch tied a career-high 9.875 on bars and junior Abby Fletcher scored a season high of 9.900 on a near-perfect floor routine.
Freshman Karlie Franz led the Flashes on vault with a score of 9.800 finishing in third place. Fellow freshmen Olivia Amodei and DeCavitch each scored a 9.775.
Senior Jade Brown placed second on bars scoring a 9.800.
Sophomore Samantha Henry recorded a career-high 9.875 on beam, finishing in second place on the event. Sophomore Riley Danielson placed third tying a career-high 9.850. Fletcher finished in fourth place (9.825).
The Golden Flashes swept floor exercise with Brown finishing in second place (9.875). Junior Sarah McCarty and DeCavitch tied for third place (9.850). Kent State posted its second-highest floor score of the season (49.275).
Scouting Western Michigan
Western Michigan is ranked second in the MAC and 39th in the nation with a NQS of 195.080.
Freshman Josephine Thomas leads the Broncos on vault with an NQS score of 9.785.
Senior Amelia Mohler is ranked sixth in the MAC on bars (9.820) and forth on floor (9.835). Junior Alexis Olivier is ranked 10th (9.790) on bars.
Junior Stacie Harrison and freshman Ronni Binstock are tied for seventh on floor with a score of 9.835.
Junior Morgan Spence scored a season high all-around score of 38.950 this past weekend.
Series History
Kent State is 59-21 all-time vs. Western Michigan. In its last meeting, the Golden Flashes soared over the Broncos, 195.700-195.050 in Kent, Ohio.
