
Flashes Host Eastern Michigan in MAC Tournament First Round Matchup

KENT, Ohio-Â The Kent State men's basketball team will host Eastern Michigan on Monday, March 9 at 7 p.m. at the M.A.C. Center in the first round of the MAC Tournament. Kent State is the sixth seed in this year's tournament and will host the 11th-seeded Eagles. The game will broadcast on ESPN+.

Monday will be the fifth time that Kent State and EMU have collided in the MAC Tournament and the first time since the 1995-96 season. EMU topped KSU, 84-72, in the quarterfinals in route to the 1996 MAC Tournament Championship. The Eagles have won the last two contests against the Golden Flashes.

Earlier this season Kent State fell in Ypsilanti, 70-49 against EMU. KSU struggled offensively as the Flashes shot just 29.1 percent. Pippen led the Flashes recording his sixth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Mitch Peterson added eight points, while seniors Troy Simons and Antonio Williams each scored five points.
LAST TIME OUT
The Kent State men's basketball team finished the regular season at 19-12 overall and 9-9 in league play after falling to rival Akron, 79-76. Both teams exchanged trips to the free throw line in the final 10 seconds of the game. With Akron leading 79-63 with four seconds left, the Flashes had a chance to tie the game with one final possession as senior Antonio Williams put up a three-pointer from the top of the circle that went wide to the left. Roberts led the Flashes with 17 points and five rebounds, while Simons added 16 points and four boards. Junior Danny Pippen scored 14 points and Williams rounded out the double-figure scoring with 11 points.
On the season, the Flashes are shooting 45.1 percent from the floor and 34.1 percent from long range. Pippen leads the team in rebounds averaging 7.1 boards a game.
