KENT, Ohio- The Kent State women's golf team had a school-record three players selected as WGCA All-Americans. Senior Pimnipa Panthong was named an All-American second teamer while senior Karoline Stormo and freshman Caley McGinty earned All-American honorable mention honors, the Women's Golf Coaches Association announced on Tuesday (April 21).
It is the third All-American distinction for Panthong as she was selected as an All-American second team in 2017 and 2018, while Stormo earns her second All-American award as she earned honorable mention honors in 2019.
Panthong, the program's only three-time All-American, played in the lineup for all seven events while setting an individual season scoring average record of 70.48, the best in program history. She finished with a team-high 18 rounds for par or better, which gave her 80 for her career, a program-best. Panthong ended the season with a team-high six top 10 finishes and had one tournament win. Ranked No. 28 in the country, Panthong was also a finalist for the ANNIKA Award, presented to the top female collegiate golfer.
Stormo, who was ranked No. 40 in the country, closed the season with a scoring average of 70.94. She finished with 11 rounds for par or better giving her 57 for her career, the third-best in program history. Stormo set a program record in par-4 scoring of 3.98. She had three top 5 finishes and won the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate.
McGinty, who was ranked No. 34 in the country, played in the lineup for every event and finished with a 70.86, the program's second-best. She led the nation in final round scoring average (68.86) and led the team in Par-5 scoring (4.70). McGinty led the team with 10 rounds in the 60's while also completing 15 rounds for par or better. She completed the season with five top 10 finishes.
All three players helped lead the Flashes to a season-ending No. 6 ranking and claim five tournament wins out of the seven played.
