
Flashes Fall to Rockets in Defensive Battle

TOLEDO, Ohio – For the second time this season, Kent State held its opponent below a .100 hitting percentage in a 3-0 (18-25, 24-26, 16-25) loss to Toledo on the road Friday night.
The Golden Flashes (6-9, 1-2 MAC) totaled 61 digs and six blocks while limiting the Rockets to a .087 efficiency. Senior Erin Gardner led the defense with 22 digs, while redshirt senior Alex Haffner, sophomore Bryn Roberts and junior Savannah Matthews added 10 digs apiece. Senior Danie Tyson had a team-high three blocks, including a pair of solo stuffs.
Kent State struggled offensively and posted a season-low -.048 hitting percentage with 21 kills and 27 errors on 126 attacks. Senior Melissa Kolurbasi had a team-high eight kills. Haffner registered 19 assists.
The Flashes will go for a weekend split with Toledo on Saturday. First serve from Savage Arena is scheduled for 3 p.m.
