
Flashes Surge Ahead Finish Fourth at Purdue Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. – After a rain-shortened Monday at the Purdue Fall Invitational, the Golden Flashes men's golf team put together an excellent Tuesday, finishing the tournament in fourth place.
This third fourth-place showing of the season for the Flashes, who wrapped up the Invitational two strokes over par for a team score of 866.
A pair of Big Ten schools sat atop the standings as Indiana took home the victory six strokes under par, with the hosts in Purdue just one stroke behind. Mid-American Conference rival Toledo broke even on the final day to share the last podium spot with the Flashes.
Kent State was led by Cade Breitenstine who made up a remarkable fifteen spots in the final round, carding a 213 and finishing in a tie for third place. One of the athletes who held on to tie Breitenstine was KSU sophomore Luca Civello, who participated as an individual this week.
Josh Gilkison and Chris Vandette rounded out the Flashes at or under par with Vandette breaking even at 216 and Gilkison finishing one under at 215 to finish 14th and 11th respectively.
The team will wrap up the fall portion of their schedule on October 17-18 when they travel to Michigan for the Qual Valley Collegiate Championship ahead of the winter break.
