KENT, Ohio – The Kent State volleyball team dropped a pair of two-point sets in its return to the M.A.C. Center on Friday evening, falling 3-1, (23-25, 19-25, 25-21, 23-25), to Central Michigan.
Senior Melissa Kolurbasi had a match-high 16 kills while posting a season-best .368 hitting percentage to lead the Golden Flashes (6-11, 1-4 MAC). Junior Savannah Matthews and senior Danie Tyson joined Kolurbasi in double-figures with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Redshirt senior Alex Haffner recorded 45 assists.
Kent State's block was effective and finished the contest with 12 stuffs. Tyson and freshman Ainsley Guse led the way with six total blocks each, a career-high for Guse and season-high for Tyson. Freshman Kiersten Kraus added a career-best four total blocks.
Senior Erin Gardner tallied 21 digs to lead the floor defense. Haffner had 13 digs, while Kraus and Matthews added 10 digs apiece.
The Flashes will be back in action at the M.A.C. Center on Saturday against Eastern Michigan. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
