
Volleyball Grounds Eagles for Key MAC Win

KENT, Ohio – Kent State earned a much-needed Mid-American Conference volleyball over Easter Michigan, 3-1, (25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 25-21), to snap a four-match skid on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Flashes (7-11, 2-4 MAC) were a 9-0 run to end the second set away their first 3-0 sweep of the season. Senior Melissa Kolurbasi continued a stellar weekend and the pin and finished with a match-high 18 kills. Junior Savannah Matthews posted a double-double with 16 kills and 12 digs. Redshirt senior Alex Haffner totaled 52 assists while recording three aces to share the team lead with Matthews.
Kent State reached double-figure blocks for the sixth time this season, finishing the contest with 10. Senior Danie Tyson led the way with five stuffs and freshman Ainsley Guse added four.
The Flashes will continue a stretch of seven consecutive matches in the state of Ohio when it visits rival Akron for two Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge contests next weekend.
