KENT, OHIO- For the second time this season, the Golden Flashes have swept the Mid-American Conference East Division weekly awards with Dustin Crum, C.J. West and Andrew Glass taking home the accolades after Saturday's Wagon Wheel victory.
Dustin Crum took home his fourth MAC Player of the Week award after rushing for a season-best 114 yards on just nine carries. Crum ripped off a career-long 62-yard run in the first quarter to set up the game's first score. He added a pair of rushing touchdowns to his resume as well, giving him 10 for the season and tying him for the team lead. Crum also showed off his versatility with a pooch punt that was downed at the one-yard line.
C.J. West captured his first Defensive Player of the Week award after a dynamic performance. West recorded three sacks on Saturday, the first three-sack game by a Golden Flash since 2016. West headlined a defense that recorded six sacks on the day, pitched the first road shutout since 1974 and the first in the rivalry since 1949.
Andrew Glass earned his second Special Teams Player of the Week, both coming in the last three weeks. Glass was a perfect three-for-three on field goals and four-for-four on extra points for a 13-point day. He continued to be a weapon in the kicking game with his eight kickoffs resulting in just 71 total return yards.
The victory on Saturday moved Kent State to 6-5 on the season and 5-2 in the MAC. The Flashes face off with Miami on Saturday afternoon for the MAC East Division title. Kick-off from Dix Stadium is set for noon.
