Flashes Head North for Cleveland State Open

KENT, OHIO- The Golden Flashes are back on the road this weekend, making the short trip north to Cleveland State, to take part in the Cleveland State Open.
Kent State is no stranger to the Cleveland State Open, having competed in the 2018 and 2019 iterations of the event. The Flashes finished second of 29 teams back in 2019 with Jake Ferri and Colin McCracken taking home third and fourth place honors, respectively.
Ferri is coming off a strong 5-2 showing at the prestigious Cliff Keen Invitational out in Las Vegas. The top-rated wrestler in the MAC at 125 pounds, Ferri enters the weekend with a 10 -5 record on the year. Louis Newell went 2-2 out in Vegas and leads the squad with 12 wins on the season.
Saturday's event will start at 9:30 and follow a traditional double-elimination tournament format. The top-7 places will be wrestled for in each of the 10 weight classes.

The Flashes will be in action next Saturday as they start the MAC season on the road at Northern Illinois. Kent State will also take on Harper College as part of the Huskie Duals, action starts at 1 p.m. ET.
