
Ferri Leads Flashes at Cliff Keen

LAS VEGAS, NEV- Jake Ferri earned a seventh-place finish in the 125 pound bracket, highlighting day two of the Cliff Keen Collegiate Invite.
Ferri picked up three victories on Saturday and closed the tournament with a 5-2 record. He picked up all three victories by decision, including an 11-8 victory over Jacob Allen of Navy. Badry Chrisman also picked up a win today, defeating Scott Jarosz of Sacred Heart.
The Golden Flashes are back in action next weekend as they travel north for the Cleveland State Invite.
DAY ONE RECAP
The Golden Flashes have eight wrestlers battling in their respective third-place brackets after day one of the Cliff Keen Collegiate Invitational.
The Flashes are one of eight teams with eight or more wrestlers that have advanced to Saturday's rounds and have totaled 13.5 points so far in the tournament.
Jake Ferri went 2-1 on Friday at 125 pounds. He earned an 11-6 opening round victory before dropping a decision to the bracket's sixth-ranked wrestler, Brandon Kaylor of Oregon State. Ferri rebounded in impressive fashion, earning a third period fall in his third bout of the day.
Brendon Fenton dropped his first match of the day, but rebounded in his second match of the day. Fenton earned a 12-10 victory by decision over Mosha Schwartz of Northern Colorado. Louis Newell also went 2-1 on Friday. Newell earned a victory by decision in the first round, he dropped his second-round match to the bracket's top ranked wrestler. Newell closed the day in fine fashion with a 9-7 victory over Jacob Mann of Princeton to move on to Saturday.
Kody Komara also went 2-1 on Friday. He picked up an opening round victory by decision. Komara dropped his second-round match to the bracket's fifth-ranked wrestler and rebounded to pick up a 7-6 win over Daniel Kimball of South Dakota State. Brady Chrisman went 1-1 on the day, highlighted by earning a fall over Cael Carlson of Minnesota in the first period. Michael Ferree celebrated his birthday with a decision over Aaron Ayzerov of Columbia. Jacob Cover went 2-1 in the 285-pound bracket and started the day with a 4-0 shutout of Drew Flynn of Cornell. He dropped a decision to the bracket's third-ranked wrestler, before he won his second decision via shutout, 2-0 over Jake Andrews of Cal State Bakersfield.
The Flashes are back in action tomorrow to wrap up the Cliff Keen Invitational.
