Men’s Track and Field Travels to MAC Indoor Championships

The Kent State men's track and field team will battle for the conference title, traveling to Central Michigan University for the 2021 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
The Golden Flashes have 25 athletes slated to compete, beginning with the heptathlon 60-meter dash and weight throw at 10 a.m. The 60-meter hurdles kicks off trials for running events at 11:15 a.m. Event finals for the 5,000-meter run and distance medley relay will bring Friday's men's action on the track to a close at 12:45 p.m. and 1:15 p.m., respectively.
Saturday's action begins with the heptathlon 60-meter hurdles at 10:30 a.m. Triple jump gets the field events going at 11 a.m. Running event finals are scheduled for 11:15 a.m. with the mile. The men's competition will conclude after the 4x400-meter relay at 1:30 p.m.
SCORING FORMAT
The top six competitors in each event will score points for their team with a 10-8-6-4-2-1 scale.

The MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships will be live streamed on Chippewas All-Access. For those unable to stream the meet, results will be updated throughout the meet.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State has 11 individuals and a relay team that rank top-5 in their respective events entering the conference meet.
Freshman Alexander Shields holds the top spot in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.00. Senior Jacob Mally has a season-best time of 8.22 to rank fifth. Both will also compete in the heptathlon, with Mally seeking his first conference gold after finishing runner-up to teammate TJ Lawson the past two years.
Asa Hodrick is ranked top 5 in two separate events. Hodrick is second overall in the 200-meter dash (21.34) and comes in at fourth in the 60-meter dash (6.81).
Jaheim Jones and Dejon Manning join Hodrick in both of those events. Jones ranks fifth in the 60-meter dash (6.89), while Manning ranks third in the 200-meter dash (21.64).
Jake Wickey ranks second in the weight throw with a toss of 72'-11.75".
The Golden Flashes also have a pair of teammates ranked in the top 5 in both the triple jump and pole vault. Anthony Milliner and Del'Mario Hairston rank second (48'-9.5") and third (48'-7.5") in the triple jump, respectively, while Kristian Kneffler and Lukas Van Der Watt are tied for third overall in the pole vault (16'-3.25").
Rounding out the Flashes who rank in the top 5 is Gavin Schoeneman, who comes in at third place in the high jump clearing a height of 6'-11".
NEXT UP FOR KENT STATE
Kent State athletes that finish in the top-16 nationally in their respected events will qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held in Fayetteville, Ark. from March 11-13.
