Flashes Finish Fourth at Eagle Invitational

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team (3-3) finished in fourth place on Saturday afternoon at the Eagle Invitational in Ypsilanti, Mich.
Ball State (195.875) took home the victory with Eastern Michigan (195.800), Western Michigan (195.575) and Kent State (194.825) rounding out the field. The Flashes' score was their second highest this season.
Abby Fletcher, the two-time MAC Gymnast of the Week, picked right up where she left off. She tied her career-high (9.900) on beam to finish tied for second place and helped the Flashes set a season-high mark on the event (48.800). Fletcher also tied for sixth place on floor (9.875).
The Flashes saw a few other top-five performances, including Rachel DeCavitch and Sarah Haxton who tied for third place on bars (9.825). Olivia Amodei tied for third place on vault (9.800).
DeCavitched finished tied for second in the all-around competition (38.900).
The team will travel to Ypsilanti again on Valentine's Day, Sunday, Feb. 14, and will host Western Michigan on Thursday, Feb. 18. The Flashes will then take on MAC-rival Central Michigan on Sunday, Feb. 21, inside the M.A.C. Center.
