
Flashes Face Falcons in Regular Season Finale

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team (4-7, 1-4 MAC) travels to Bowling Green (1-9, 0-5 MAC) in the regular season finale on Friday, Mar. 12, at 5 p.m.
The Golden Flashes and Falcons will end the year in the same matchup that kicked off the 2021 season, this time with Mid-American Conference implications on the line. In the first meet of the season, Kent State outscored Bowling Green 194.675-190.550.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes floor routine was the highlight of the day, as the team scored a 49.350 – its second-best mark of the season – in the last rotation. Four of the top five performers on floor came from the Golden Flashes lineup, with Toshi Richard leading the way and tying for first place on floor with a 9.900 routine. Rachel DeCavitch, Jade Brown and Abby Fletcher all tied for third place with a score of 9.875.
DeCavitch and Samantha Henry tied for first place on beam with a score of 9.825. DeCavitch used her solid beam and floor performances to take first place in the all-around competition with a score of 39.025.
Kennedy Weinpert tied for second place on vault with a 9.800. It was Weinpert's second-best score of the season. Madison Iannuzzo finished in third place on bars for the Flashes with a 9.750, while Olivia Amodei and Sarah Haxton tied for fourth place with a score of 9.725.
About Bowling Green
Bowling Green is ranked 51st in the country and seventh in the MAC. Despite ranking last in the conference on all four events, the Falcons do possess quality individual talent.
Alexandra Fochler ranks ninth in the MAC on bars with a 9.838 NQS, while Elean Lawson is 13th in the conference on vault with a 9.800 NQS. Taylor Jensen competes in the all-around competition for the Falcons and ranks in the top-25 in the conference on both floor (20th) and beam (24th).
The Falcons are coming off their season-high score in the Eastern Michigan Tri-Meet. The Falcons posted a 194.300 and earned their first victory of the season over Air Force. Bowling Green will look to continue that momentum on their senior night against Kent State.
