Kent State Looks to Keep Winning Ways Going Versus Miami

The Kent State soccer team (3-0-0) are on the road for the first time this season as they travel to Oxford for a 1 p.m. matchup with the Miami Redhawks (1-1-0) on Sunday.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes won their 10 th straight match versus Akron this past Sunday, holding the Zips to just two shots on goal as they won 1-0. The back line was especially solid, winning the ball back and making sure goalkeeper Sarah Melén was not too busy in goal. Yasmine Hall scored her second of the season in as many games, combining with Amanda Winquist to get free on the left wing before curling her shot past the goalkeeper.
Flash Facts
-Kent State has kept back-to-back shutouts to start the season for the first time since 2004 when they shutout Cleveland State and Youngstown State. A shutout Sunday would mark the first time in program history that the team has recorded three straight to start the season.
-The Flashes will look to win their first three Mid-American Conference games for the first time since 2017. The team that season went on to win the MAC regular season championship.
-Two players from the squad received honors for their performance in the first two games. Defender Tianna Harris was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week while goalkeeper Melén was named the MAC East Division Defensive Player of the Week.
Scouting Miami
Miami enters the contest with a 1-1-0 record and sit fourth in the MAC East Division on goal difference. . They beat the Ohio Bobcats 1-0 to open the season before losing 5-0 to Buffalo. Goalkeeper Izzie Vaccari has faced 29 shots, saving 12 and allowing the five goals in the loss to Buffalo. Julia Hoffman scored the lone goals against the Bobcats while Haley Anspach has missed a penalty in the loss to Buffalo.
Series History
The Flashes have a 9-12-3 record all-time against the Redhawks. Miami won the 2019 contest in Oxford by a 2-0.
