Flashes Drop Rubber Match at #2 Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, MS- Second-ranked Mississippi State scored in each of the first three innings and pulled away late as Kent State dropped the rubber match of the three-game series 13-0 on Sunday afternoon at Dudy Noble Field.
Right-hander Max Rippl got his second start of the season for the Golden Flashes and went the first four innings. He allowed five hits and three runs while striking out three. Rippl was followed up by four pitchers over the final five innings including Asher Soltis who made he collegiate debut.
The Kent State offense was held in check by Bulldogs' pitching on Sunday. Freshman Jackson Fristoe was impressive, going six innings and retired all 18 batters he faced. Three Bulldog relievers followed for Mississippi State.
The Golden Flashes drop to 4-4 on the season while second-ranked Mississippi State is now 8-3 on the year. Kent State is back at home next weekend for solo games against Salem University on Friday and Grand Valley State on Saturday. Friday's game will start at 3 p.m. with a 1 p.m. start set for Saturday.
