
Floor Routines Shine in Loss to Ball State

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team (4-7, 1-4 MAC) lost its final home meet of the 2021 season at the hands of Ball State (13-1, 2-1 MAC) on Sunday, 195.725-194.675.
The Golden Flashes floor routine was the highlight of the day in the team's fourth loss in the last five meets. Kent State scored a 49.350 – its second-best mark of the season – in the last rotation, but the impressive score was not enough to get the victory.
Four of the top five performers on floor came from the Golden Flashes lineup, with Toshi Richard leading the way and tying for first place on floor with a 9.900 routine. Rachel DeCavitch, Jade Brown and Abby Fletcher all tied for third place with a score of 9.875.
Kennedy Weinpert tied for second place on vault with a 9.800. It was Weinpert's second-best score of the season.
Madison Iannuzzo finished in third place on bars for the Flashes with a 9.750, while Olivia Amodei and Sarah Haxton tied for fourth place with a score of 9.725.
DeCavitch and Samantha Henry tied for first place on beam with a score of 9.825. DeCavitch used her solid beam and floor performances to take first place in the all-around competition with a score of 39.025.
