Junior defender Tianna Harris was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week after helping lead Kent State to back-to-back shut outs to start the season.
Harris played all 180 minutes and with her fellow defenders limited Buffalo and Akron to a combined six shots on goal, making life easy for goalkeeper Sarah Melén and helping the Golden Flashes to keep their opponents under pressure.
Harris was solid all weekend long, leading the field players by winning 80 percent of her challenges for the ball (Melén won her only challenge of the weekend for a perfect 100 percent). She also intercepted 15 passes to help win back possession for Kent State and, when the Flashes had the ball, completed 70 percent of her passes to help the team build from the back and maintain possession of the ball.
Kent State will look to go 3-0 to start the season for the first time since 2011 when they travel to Oxford for a 1 p.m. kick-off against Miami.
