
Flashes Win Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, IND.- The Kent State men's golf team secured its first tournament win of the season after posting a 54-hole total of 852 (-12) at the Boilermaker Invitational.
The Flahses came into the final round trailing off the lead by seven strokes, and came back and won the tournament after posting a final round score of 279 (-9).
Kent State had two players finish in the top-5 with Jared Wilson leading the way with a second place finish. Wilson posted a career-low 67 (-5) in the final round after he fired five birdies on a bogey-free round. Wilson finished the tournament at 208 (-8). Cade Breitenstine finished in third place with a 212 (-4) score. Breitenstin finished the final round with a 70 (-2) score after going 17 holes for par or better with three birdies.
Chris Vandette finished tied for 14th at 215 (-1) after carding a 70 (-2) in the third round. Vandette went 16 holes for par or better with 4 birdies. Josh Gilkison carded a 75 (+3) in the final round and finished tied for 30th at 220 (+4).
Julien Paltrinieri finished tied for 38th at 222 (+6) and finished the day with a 72 (E) score.
The Flashes finished two strokes ahead of the Illinois (-10), while Minnesota and Purdue finished tied for third (-5). Kent State led the tournament on par-4 holes (E), while Wilson led the tournament and team with 15 birdies.
Kent State retunrs to action on April 17-18 as the Flashes compete in the Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn State.
