Field Hockey Ends 2021 Spring Season on Six Game Win Streak

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State field hockey team was victorious in their 2021 Spring season finale defeating Central Michigan 6-0 at Murphy-Mellis Field Saturday afternoon. The Golden Flashes ended the season with three weekend sweeps in a row, winning their last six games.
Kent State had a big edge in shots (22-5), shots on goal (15-2), and penalty corners (7-1). Freshman Katie Wuerstle led the Flashes offensive attack again with five shots, four of which were on goal, and scoring twice.
Kent State got off to another hot start with goals from junior Sydney Carr, sophomore Sydney Washburn, and freshman Wuerstle to take a quick 3-0 lead in the first quarter.
After a scoreless second quarter, the Flashes offense struck again scoring twice in the third, with goals from senior Emma Bressler and freshman Victoria Tinghitella, and once more in the fourth with Wuerstle scoring again.
Kent State ends the season with an 11-3 overall record and finished 9-3 in the Mid-American Conference.
