Eva Usoz was selected to the All-MAC First-Team and Ryli Zee was selected to the MAC All-Freshman Team, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Usoz has now received All-MAC First-Team honors in three out of her four seasons playing at Kent State. Out of those three years, the current 2026 season had been her strongest statistically. The senior from Madrid, Spain leads the team in scoring, points, shots and shots on goal and is top-10 in the conference in all four of those offensive statistical categories as well. Usoz's 10 goals, 22 points, 72 shots, and 41 shots on goal are all new career-highs for her in a season.
Usoz has consistently been the go-to option all season for Kent State, leading the team in shots in 16 out of the 18 games played. Usoz has also scored in half the games this season, including a personal-best performance against Longwood (Oct. 16), where she had 12 shots and nine shots on goal.
Meanwhile, as a redshirt freshman, Zee leads all of NCAA Division I with a Kent State Field Hockey single-season program record 13 defensive saves. The Washington Township, N.J native has also steadily improved on the offensive end, tallying five points on the season, which is the fourth-most on the team. Zee has been a workhorse for the Golden Flashes this year, averaging slightly over 50 minutes played per game and starting in all 18 regular season games in her first year of play.
Perhaps most impressively, in just one season, Zee is only two defensive saves away from tying the Kent State program record for career defensive saves set by Clara Rodriguez Seto (2017-2021) and Gina Van Pelt (1990-1993).
Usoz and Zee will attempt to lead the offense and defense once more as the Golden Flashes are heading to the MAC Tournament this week. Kent State takes on No. 4-seeded App State in the first round tomorrow at 11:30am in Oxford, Ohio.
