
Haffner and Matthews Earn All-MAC Second Team Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio โ Kent State setter Alex Haffner and outside hitter Savannah Matthews were named to the All-MAC Second Team, the Mid-American Conference office announced on Wednesday.
The duo helped lead the Golden Flashes to the first 6-0 start to the conference season in program history and a 12-9 overall record.
Haffner, an honorable mention selection in 2019, is the just the second Kent State setter to receive All-MAC honors in consecutive seasons. She ranked fourth in the conference in assists per set (10.32) and was second among setters in digs per set (2.64). The redshirt junior posted 13 double-doubles and was named MAC East Setter of the Week three times.
Matthews was one of the best six-rotation pins in the conference, ranking 10 in points per set (3.97) and kills per set (3.56). She posted nine double-doubles and was fourth among pin hitters with an average of 2.84 digs per set. Matthews earned MAC East Offensive Player of the Week twice and had 20 or more kills in four matches.
