KENT, OHIO- The Golden Flashes wrap up the regular season with a trek north to Ypsilanti to take on Eastern Michigan in a four-game set.
ABOUT THE FLASHES
Kent State took three-of-four from Western Michigan last weekend but fell to Akron, 9-6 in a mid-week showdown on Tuesday. The 3-2 week puts the Golden Flashes at 27-25 overall and 20-16 in Mid-American Conference play.
The Golden Flashes lead the MAC with a .297 team batting average this season. Cam Touchette continues to lead the offense as he sits second in the MAC with 65 hits on the season and his .374 leads the team and also sits second in the MAC. Collin Mathews is right on Touchette's heels with 61 hits and sits eighth in the conference. Ben Carew's 59 hits place him 10th, making the Flashes and Toledo as the only teams to have three players in the top-10.
On the mound, Luke Albright will likely cross the 100-strikeout mark this weekend, entering his final start at 99 on the season. He will be the fourth MAC pitcher to cross the century mark this season. Currently, Albright sits just outside the top-10 all time for strikeouts in a single season at Kent State. He needs six in his final start to match Andrew Chafin's mark of 105 in 2011.
ABOUT EASTERN MICHIGAN
The Eagles come into the weekend at 20-27 on the season and 14-22 in MAC play and have lost their previous seven contests. The Eagles are hitting .257 as a team and have been paced by the steady bats of Gabe Denton and Taylor Hopkins. Denton is hitting .347 on the year with a team best 10 homers while Hopkins is hitting .308 and leads the club with eight steals.
On the mound, the Eagles have pitched to a 5.20 earned run average, good for fourth in the MAC. They are led on the mound by Davis Feldman, the graduate student has pitched to a 2.75 earned run average over 11 appearances and nine starts. Fellow hurler Justin Meis is coming off a strong outing of six innings and one run allowed against Central Michigan last week.
