
Richmond Names Glaus as Senior Deputy Athletics Director

KENT, OHIO- Kent State Director of Athletics Randale L. Richmond is pleased to announce the hiring of Greg Glaus as Senior Deputy Athletics Director.
In this new role Glaus will assist the Director of Athletics in day-to-day operations of the Athletics Department and will serve as the number two person in the department, providing direction in the Director's absence. He will help to oversee the department's strategic planning process and the execution of the plan as well as oversee the department's sports supervisors. Glaus will also assist in the coordination of the department's revenue generation and assist in the coordination of fundraising goals.
"We're really excited to bring Greg and his family back to Kent State University," Director of Athletics Randale L. Richmond said. "He is one of the most respected administrators in intercollegiate athletics and has had the opportunity to learn from some of the best minds in the country since he's left. His leadership will be instrumental in aligning us with our mission to graduate student-athletes and win championships."
Glaus returns to Kent State from Texas Tech University, where he has served as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services since 2017, and more recently holding the position of Senior Associate Athletics Director for Leadership and Academic Excellence. With the Red Raiders, Glaus served as the chief academic officer for the department and had oversight over academic eligibility.

"Greg has been an integral member of our team for the last four years. In addition to providing leadership to Academic Services and more recently to the Leadership Academy, he was instrumental in navigating the Department through the Strategy to Win (Department's Strategic Plan), our COVID management plan, as well as other important initiatives."
Glaus got his career in higher education started with the Golden Flashes as a college office academic advisor graduate assistant in 2006. He moved over to the athletics side of campus in 2007. From 2007 through 2017, Glaus worked in a variety of roles in the athletics department starting in academics and advising, working his way up to becoming the Assistant Director of Academic Services. In 2010, Glaus made the transition over to compliance where he served as assistant director of compliance for two years. Glaus was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance in 2012 and was named Senior Associate Athletics Director in July of 2016.

Glaus said. "I couldn't be more excited to return to Kent State as the Senior Deputy Athletics Director. Northeast Ohio and Kent State are home, and I am looking forward to opportunity to work and reconnect with colleagues as well as developing new working relationships. It is an exciting time at Kent State and I can't wait to get started."
A native of nearby Barberton, Ohio, Glaus graduated as a honors scholar from Wright State University with a Bachelor's of Education in health and physical education in 2005 and was a member of the Raiders' baseball program. He earned his Master's of Education in higher education administration from Kent State in 2009. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in the same field.
He and his wife, Amie, have three daughters; Grace, Claire, & Scarlet.
