
Gu’s Second Round 68 Leads No. 29 Flashes at Wolverine Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Freshman Jennifer Gu fired a 68 in the second round Monday evening to rocket up the leaderboard into a tie for 20th heading into the final round of the Wolverine Invitational. Senior Emily Price is one stroke behind her in a tie for 24th, and the No. 29 Kent State women's golf team is in sixth place after two rounds of competition.
The Golden Flashes shook off a 300 in the morning round and posted the second-lowest second round score of 284 to move ahead of five teams. Gu led the second round surge and carded a 145 for the first 36 holes of her collegiate career. Junior Valentina Albertazzi also shot under par in the second round with her Kent State-low of 69 to move into a tie for 41st at 148.
Price and sophomore Mayka Hoogeboom both carded a 72 to lead the Flashes in the opening round. Price is currently tied for 24th with a 146 and Hoogeboom is tied for 53rd with a 151.
Fifth-year student-athlete Chloe Salort closed the day with a 73 during the second 18 to bounce back from an 80 in round one and is tied for 62nd.
Junior Noramol Nuchsila competed as an individual and is tied for 80th (+18, 162).
A shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday will begin the final round of the Wolverine Invitational. Live scoring can be tracked on GolfStat.
