KENT, OHIO- The Golden Flashes are back in action this Friday and Saturday, taking part in the historic Virginia Duals.
Kent State will wrestle Maryland at 1 p.m. on Friday and Oklahoma at 3 p.m. On Saturday, they will take on Chattanooga at 10 a.m. before closing with Virginia at 2 p.m.
This will be the Golden Flashes 19th appearance at the Duals in the 42 year history of the event. The Golden Flashes are one of four schools to have 40-plus wins at the Duals. Kent State went 2-2 their last trip out to the Duals, defeating Penn and Maryland and falling to then #22 Virginia and dropping a one-point decision against Fresno State.
It will be the third meeting all time on the mat for Kent State and Maryland, they last met in the 2020 Virginia Duals. Three is a charm for the Flashes and Sooners as well. The teams met in the Convo at the start of the 2019 season and also met way back in 1939. The Mocs and Flashes will tangle for the 17th time on Saturday, Kent State owns a 10-6 all-time mark but will look to end a five-match slide against Chattanooga. The finale of the weekend will be against the Virginia Cavaliers, the two programs are no stranger to each other at the Virginia Duals, this will be the sixth time meeting up at the event and 12th overall. Kent State owns a narrow 6-5 series edge.
Flo Wrestling will be handling the live stream and the link for the streaming service is available on the wrestling schedule page. There will be no live stats for the event.
The projected line-up for the Golden Flashes and their four opponents are below. Kent State will be back in action next Sunday at 2 p.m. when they host the Buffalo Bulls for conference dual inside the M.A.C. Center.
