KENT, Ohio – The Kent State men's basketball team (11-9, 6-4 MAC) wraps up its back-to-back road games with a tilt against Miami (9-10, 3-5 MAC) on Tuesday evening in the Watsco Center.
The Golden Flashes kicked off its two-game road trip with a 91-83 victory over Bowling Green on Saturday. The Flashes used a remarkable 58-point second half to pick up the crucial road win against the Falcons.
Sincere Carry led the charge for the Flashes' enormous second half with 23 points. He finished with a game-high 30 points on 11-for-19 shooting, including 4-for-8 from three-point range. It was Carry's second 30-point game of the season. Carry is now the third-highest scorer in the conference in MAC games with 20.5 points per game.
VonCameron Davis continued his career week by posting a career-high 17 points against Bowling Green, usurping his previous high of 11 points just three days later. His 14.0 points per game for the week rank third on the Flashes, just behind Andrew Garcia and Carry. Garcia scored a season-high 18 points against WMU on Tuesday and followed it with a 13-point performance against BGSU.
The Flashes went toe-to-toe with the best statistical offense in the Mid-American Conference in Bowling Green and scored a Division-I opponent high 91 points. Malique Jacobs played a big role yet again, posting his second-straight near triple double with 11 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.Â
Scouting the RedHawks
Miami has lost each of its last two games since missing Dalonte Brown due to injury. Brown is the RedHawks third-leading scorer (12.5) and the team leader in rebounds (6.6).Â
The RedHawks boast one of the MAC's leading scorers in Dae Dae Grant, who averages 16.8 points per game. Grant is fifth in the conference in assists per game (4.3) in conference-only games.
When Miami is scoring points, they are a difficult team to beat. The RedHawks are 7-0 when they score 80 or more points and just 2-10 when they fail to hit the 80-point mark. Miami is one of the best free-throw percentage teams in the country, ranking 13th in the nation and second in the MAC at just over 78 percent. They also excel defensively, ranking in the top-10 in the country in turnover percentage and non-steal turnover percentage.
