
Ohio Hosts Kent State in Friday Night Matchup

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State men's basketball team (7-6, 2-1 MAC) travel to Athens on Friday, Jan. 7, for a prime-time matchup against Ohio (11-2, 2-0 MAC) on CBS Sports at 6:30 p.m.
The Golden Flashes have won back-to-back games in electric fashion, most recently a one-point win over Ball State after a tip-in layup by Justyn Hamilton with 10 seconds left lifted the Flashes to victory.
Sincere Carry was the star of the evening in Muncie, scoring a season-high 26 points while adding seven rebounds and a team-high six assists. He also led the team with three steals and held Luke Bumbalough, one of the MAC's leading scorers, to just three points on 1-for-9 from the field and 1-for-8 from beyond the arc.
The Flashes improve to 2-1 in Mid-American Conference play and have won two games in a row following a three-game losing skid. Carry is averaging 22.3 points per game in MAC games along with 4.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in conference play.
Kent State has struggled shooting the ball from beyond the arc but dominated in the paint against Ball State. The Flashes scored 38 points in the paint against the Cardinals and only allowed 20 points in the paint. Defensively, the Flashes have held its most recent two opponents under 70 points and under 40 percent shooting.
Scouting the Bobcats
The Bobcats are winners of six straight games and are 2-0 to start the MAC season with wins over Western Michigan and Akron. Their only two losses on the season are to No. 17 Kentucky and No. 21 LSU.
Ohio is led by Mark Sears who averages 19.1 points per game which is second in the MAC. He scored 24 points against Akron and added eight rebounds and five assists. Sears is averaging 22.5 points in conference play.
The Bobcats are an excellent defensive team that thrive in turning over their opponents. Ohio is in the top-third of the country in steal percentage and non-steal turnover percentage. They are holding opponents to just 64.8 points per game and have held their two MAC opponents to an average of 55.0 points per game.
