Flashes Set to Face Central Michigan in Final Road Test

KENT, Ohio βΒ The Kent State soccer will square off with Central Michigan in its final road contest of the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 23. First touch is set for 1 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes (4-6-6, 4-1-4 MAC) extended their unbeaten streak in Mid-American Conference play to six games with a scoreless draw against Ball State on Thursday night at Dix Stadium.
The Flashes' back line of Tianna Harris, Dalaney Ranallo, Joey Skillen, and Abby Breitschuh had another strong game, holding the Ball State attack to just five shots and only one shot on goal. Goalkeeper Sarah Melén saved the lone shot on goal en route to her fifth shutout of the season
Postseason Push
The Flashes currently sit in third place in the MAC standings entering Sunday's contest and can control their own destiny from here out. Buffalo sits atop the table with a 6-0-3 mark in conference play, followed by Ball State at 5-1-3. After facing Central Michigan, the Flashes will host Buffalo in the regular season finale at Dix Stadium on Oct. 27.Β
Scouting the Chippewas
Central Michigan (2-10-4, 1-5-3 MAC) has dropped two of its last three matches entering Sunday's contest, including a 2-1 loss against Buffalo on Sunday. Matilda Melin and Megan Logue lead the Chippewas with three goals apiece, while Elizabeth Chlystun has tallied a team-high four assists. Emma Shingler has started 14 games in goal and has 80 saves, one shutout, and a 2.25 goals against average.
Series History
The Flashes and Huskies will square off for the 35th time on Sunday. Kent State trails in the all-time series, 10-19-5, and the two teams have needed extra time in back-to-back meetings. Harris scored the lone goal for the Flashes a year ago in a thrilling double overtime match that ended in a 1-1 draw.
