KENT, Ohio – For the second week in a row, the Kent State soccer team heads to the Mitten State for a Thursday matchup, this time against Eastern Michigan on Oct. 6.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes (2-6-3, 2-1-1 MAC) scored a miraculous goal with just seconds left in regulation to force a draw with the visiting Toledo Rockets.
The Flashes controlled the pace from the get-go, keeping the ball in the attacking half. After 35 minutes of play, sophomore Alisa Arthur found the go-ahead goal, firing the ball from the right side of the 18-yard box for her first of the season.
In the second half, Toledo found its footing, evening the score in the 73rd minute and taking the lead in the 87th. A goal scored that late could be the nail in the coffin for many teams, but the Flashes did not surrender. With less than a minute left on the game clock, Arthur sent a free kick from midfield into the box, finding junior Dalaney Ranallo who headed the ball off the left post and across the goal line for the equalizer.
Scouting the Eagles
Eastern Michigan (2-6-3, 1-2-1 MAC) is coming off of a 3-2 loss to Ohio on Sunday after earning its first conference win of the season against Akron on Thursday. The Eagles' defense has given up five goals in the last two matches, including a hat-trick against the Bobcats. Eastern's offense runs through sophomore Maddie O'Farrell, who leads the team with four goals and three assists. Junior Rebecca Pryzbylo has started in goal in 10 games this season, saving 47 shots and posting a 2.20 goals against average.
Series History
Sunday's match will mark the 28th meeting between the Flashes and Eagles. Kent State has won the three of the last five meetings but trails in the all-time series, 12-14-1. Last season, the Flashes won 2-1 in a pivotal game in the race for the MAC regular season title, with Arthur and Siena Stambolich each tallying an assist in the victory.
