
Golden Flashes Fall to Seminoles in Season Opener

KENT, Ohio — The Kent State women's basketball team led by double-digits late in the third period before falling to Florida State, 80-71, in the season opener Thursday evening at the M.A.C. Center.
The Golden Flashes (0-1) went ahead 62-51 on a driving layup by senior Katie Shumate with 2:01 remaining in the third quarter but shot just 3-of-26 from the field over the final 12 minutes. Graduate student Lindsey Thall led Kent State with 19 points and Shumate was right behind with 18. Junior Casey Santoro joined them in double-figures and finished with 11 points.
Graduate student Hannah Young had a team-high eight boards, as the Seminoles held a 50-40 advantage on the glass.
Kent State is set to host Northern Kentucky on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m.
