Ferri Captures MAC Co-Wrestler of the Week Honors

KENT- Jake Ferri knocked off a pair of wrestler's ranked in the top-30 en route to the 125 pound crown at the Appalachian State Invite and earned Mid-American Conference Co-Wrestler of the Week honors for his efforts.
Ferri went a perfect 3-0 on Saturday to start off his season with a bang and a tournament title. Ferri started his run in dominant fashion, a major decision win over Edinboro's Logan Jaquay. He then handed Stanford's Nick Provo his first (and only) loss of the year so far with a 16-9 decision. Provo came into the weekend ranked 32nd by Intermat and has risen to 30 after the Invite.
In the title match, Ferri, seeded second, met up with top-seeded Caleb Smith of host App State. Smith is ranked in the top-25 by multiple outlets and was 14th in the latest WIN Magazine rankings. Ferri knocked off the top-seeded Smith with a 5-2 decision.
Ferri and the Golden Flashes are back in action this Saturday when they travel to Annapolis for the Navy Classic.
