STILLWATER, Okla. — Sophomore Baidy Ba placed 126th at the 2022 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on Saturday (Nov. 19) at The Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course.
Ba's finish is the best by a Kent State runner since Jim Loveless placed 19th in 1991. He crossed the finish line in 30:26.1, the second fastest 10k time in Golden Flashes cross country history only behind his record-setting performance at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on Nov. 11.
At the 3k mark, Ba was in 160th and gradually moved into 136th with a little more than 1k left in the race. He then made a final push to move up 10 spots in the final standings.
Despite being an individual qualifier, Ba was not alone on Saturday. The Kent State women's basketball team, which plays at Oklahoma State on Sunday, made the morning commute from Tulsa to cheer on a fellow member of the Flash Family.
