Flashes Face Off With BG in Pink Meet

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State gymnastics team is set to take on Mid-American Conference opponent Bowling Green Sunday at 1 p.m., in KSU's annual Pink Meet.
About the Flashes
The Golden Flashes last competed on Friday, when they traveled to Rutgers to take part in a quad meet also featuring Iowa and Ursinus. The Golden Flashes put in their most impressive performance of the season in that contest, with an overall score of 196.200.
Kent State's highest score of the day came on bars at 49.150, also their highest score on bars this season. Sophomores Sarah Haxton and Kennedy Weinpert led the way for the Flashes on the event with scores of 9.875 each, a mark that is Weinpert's highest score on bars this season and tied for Haxton's highest. Their scores were also tied for first in the meet on bars.
The Flashes also reached season high scores on vault and beam, at 48.975 on vault and 48.950 on beam. Junior Rachel DeCavitch posted the highest vault score on the team and her highest of the season at 9.825. On floor, they added on a respectable score of 49.125.
At 196.200, Kent State finished in second place behind Iowa, who ended up with a score of 196.425, but ahead of host Rutgers and Ursinus, who finished at 195.950 and 185.400, respectively.
About Bowling Green
The Falcons are coming off of a nice road win at Ball State on Sunday, defeating the Cardinals, 193.125-191.725. Lily Harsch had the meet's highest score on vault, a career-high of 9.775. Harsch also posted a 9.750 on bars, the Falcons' best score of the meet.
Bowling Green's highest overall score of the season came in their previous meet against Illinois State, in which they got a 194.025. Kathryn Weilbacher had a career-best and meet-best 9.900 on floor. She also posted a 9.850 on beam, a career-best in its own right.
History
The Flashes have historically been very successful against Bowling Green, winning 12 of 13 head-to-head matchups. Kent State has won the last seven meets between the two schools, and has also won all seven times when the meet was held in Kent. Last year's meet, at Bowling Green, resulted in a final score of 196.050-193.950 in the Flashes' favor.
