
Kent State Gymnastics Victorious in Pink Meet

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team improved to 3-0 in Mid-American Conference competition, defeating Bowling Green, 195.050-192.650, during Sunday's annual Pink Meet at the M.A.C. Center.
Junior Rachel DeCavitch and freshman Alyssa Guns led the way with multiple event victories. DeCavitch posted a season-best 39.300 in the all-around competition. She also had her highest scores of the year on floor exercise (9.875) and vault (9.850). Guns matched DeCavitch's 9.850 to share the vault title and then edged her with a 9.900 on floor.
The Golden Flashes started strong with a season-high 49.050 on vault. Junior Olivia Amodei, junior Karlie Franz and sophomore Kyndall Gilbert joined DeCavitch and Guns with scores of 9.775 or higher in the first rotation.
Kent State's floor lineup put on a show once again, earning a 49.200. Sophomore Kennedy Weinpert scored a personal-best 9.875 to tie for second place. Amodei scored a 9.825 to finish fourth and freshman Grace Wehry rounded out the rotation with a 9.725.
On uneven bars, all six gymnasts posted a 9.750 or higher. Weinpert led the way with a 9.850, while Amodei and sophomore Sarah Haxton each earned a 9.775 to tie for second.
Senior Cami Klein's career-high of 9.875 earned her a first-place finish on balance beam. Guns (9.850) and DeCavitch (9.825) posted their top scores of the season to take second and third, respectively.
Kent State will travel to rival Central Michigan for competition on Feb. 27.
