MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Kent State gymnastics team is set to travel to Central Michigan on Sunday to take on the Chippewas at 1 p.m. in a Mid-American Conference duel.
About the Flashes
Kent State enters competition following a win last Sunday against fellow MAC team Bowling Green, defeating the Falcons 195.050-192.650. In the meet, junior Rachel DeCavitch placed first in the all-around category with a score of 39.300, her highest score of the year. This is due to the fact that DeCavitch tied for first in the meet on vault with a 9.850 (tied with fellow Golden Flash Alyssa Guns). DeCavitch also tied for second place on floor with a 9.875 (tied with Kent State sophomore Kennedy Weinpert and behind Guns, who finished with a 9.900).
Guns herself also came in second in the meet on the balance beam, finishing only behind Flashes senior Cami Klein, who got a 9.875, a personal record. And just like every other event that day, the uneven parallel bars were also dominated by Kent State, with Weinpert leading the pack with a score of 9.850.
Head coach Brice Biggin's Golden Flashes topped Bowling Green in every event and won the whole event, improving their overall record on the season to 10-2 and their MAC duel record to 2-0. Now they prepare for their third MAC duel of the season this Sunday, when they face off with Central Michigan.
