BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Sophomore Jessica LeBeau and redshirt senior Andrea Scali held opposing batters to only three hits as Kent State split its two games Friday at the Camel Stampede. The Golden Flashes defeated Marshall, 1-0, in the morning and then dropped a 1-0 game to host Campbell in the evening.
Game 1: Kent State 1, Marshall 0
Kent State scored the game's only run in the top of the first inning. Sabrina Kerschner drew a leadoff walk before stealing second and advancing to third on a bouncer back to the pitcher. Brenna Brownfield then registered a sac fly down the left field line to bring Kerschner home.
Jessica LeBeau (1-2) recorded 14 strikeouts, one off her career-high, in her first shutout of the season. LeBeau allowed only two hits in the game.
Madison Hershberger and Savannah Wing collected the Golden Flashes' only hits in the game.
