KENT, Ohio – Mi'Angel Daniels and Leah Pasqualetti captured event titles on Saturday as the 2022 Mid-American Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships concluded inside of the Kent State Field House. The Golden Flashes tied for fourth place with 68 points during the two-day meet.
In a photo finish, Mi'Angel Daniels won the 60-meter hurdles in a personal-best time of 8.362 seconds, edging Northern Illinois' Scout Regular by .006 seconds. It was the second day in a row that Daniels set a PR in the event, as she moved into the No. 2 spot in the Kent State record book. Benja Duff placed fourth in a time of 8.59 seconds to give the Flashes 15 points in the event, their most of the meet. The duo was later joined by Alexandria Verbancic and Ruby Greenwood to finish fifth in the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 3:50.37.
Leah Pasqualetti defended her pole vault title with a height of 13'-8.25". Pasqualetti needed just three attempts to secure the victory and then set her sights on a NCAA Championships qualifying mark. Unfortunately, she was unable to clear 14'-3.50", which would have broken her own school record.
Gabby Bailey and Grace Tennant both posted season-best marks to finish second and third, respectively, in the shot put. Bailey unleashed a throw of 54'-6" on her third attempt of the competition, while Tennant's third throw went 51'-6.50".
Sarena Choi posted a personal-best 41'-5.75" on her final attempt to place second in the triple jump. Choi sat in fifth place entering the final round of the competition and soared into the lead momentarily before Akron's Fegor Clifford went 41'-11.25" a few minutes later.
Lillie Franks' indoor personal-best height of 5'-7.25" was good for third place in the high jump.
Kent State is scheduled to begin the outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays on March 24-26.
