Flashes Host Bobcats In Annual Grudge Match

KENT, OHIO- The Golden Flashes start a two-dual weekend with the annual Grudge Match with the Ohio Bobcats on Friday night at 7 p.m. inside the M.A.C. Center.
The Grudge Match Trophy is also on the line between these long-standing MAC rivals. This will be th 75th all-time meeting between the two programs, Kent State has taken 49 of the previous 74 including last year's 22-10 victory in Athens. The Flashes are looking to halt a two-dual home slide against the Bobcats, having last won on their home mat back in 2015.ย Kent State is coming off an impressive 2-0 week with a home victory over Cleveland State and a road win at Clarion to improve to 5-5 overall and 3-2 in conference. Ohio dropped a conference dual to Central Michigan (Kent State's Sunday opponent) last Sunday and sits at 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the MAC.
In addition to the rivalry match, it will be alumni and senior day for Kent State. The Flashes will honor Tanner Clark, Jake Ferri, Colin McCracken, Bobby Pryhocki, and Ian Senz as well as members of previous senior classes. Both teams projected starters are below. Ohio is ranked second in the MAC in the latest round of MAC rankings, while Kent State is eighth. One match to look out for is potentially at 133 pounds where Brendon Fenton is ranked third and Gio DiSabato is ranked fourth. At 149 pounds, Kody Komara is ranked sixth for Kent State while Alec Hagan is ranked fourth.
Friday's match will be streamed for free via Box Cast, the link can be found on the wrestling schedule page. Kent State wraps the weekend on Sunday when they host Central Michigan for a noon start inside the M.A.C. Center.
