KENT, Ohio – The Kent State men's basketball team (13-9, 8-4 MAC) host Bowling Green (12-11, 5-7 MAC) on Tuesday night in the M.A.C. Center as the Flashes look to win their fifth-straight Mid-American Conference game.
The Golden Flashes have won six of their last seven, including four straight wins. In two of the last three games, the Flashes have erupted for 90 or more points and have scored 50 or more points in a single half in all three of those games.
Giovanni Santiago was the man of the evening against Eastern Michigan, drilling five three-pointers and scoring a season-high 21 points in just 16 minutes of action. Santiago was 7-for-10 from the floor and 5-for-8 from deep. His effort helped the Flashes' bench go off for 46 points against EMU.
The Flashes continue to get production from multiple guys, as four Golden Flashes scored in double figures against EMU. Malique Jacobs posted 13 points and led the team with six assists. Andrew Garcia also scored 13 points, while Sincere Carry added 12 points and team-high seven rebounds.
During the Flashes' four-game winning streak, they have been dominant on both sides of the ball. The Golden Flashes are averaging 83.5 points per game during the streak and only allowing 70.7 points per game.
Scouting the Falcons
The Golden Flashes outscored the Falcons, 91-83, just over a week ago on the road with a dominant second-half performance. The Flashes scored a season-high 58 points in the second half to grab the much-earned road victory.
Bowling Green has only played two games since their previous matchup against Kent State, picking up an 87-65 win over Northern Illinois after dropping a road tilt against Central Michigan.
The Falcons are led by fifth-year senior Daeqwon Plowden who averages 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Plowden showed off against the Flashes in the first half of the previous matchup, scoring 21 points before the break. The Flashes slowed him down in the second half, holding Plowden to just six points after halftime. Other impact players for BGSU are Joe Reece and Myron Gordon, the latter of which leads the team with 3.2 assists per game.
