
Flashes Visit Falcons for Final Regular Season Road Trip

Kent State heads to Bowling Green for the final regular season road game Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
The Golden Flashes (17-10, 9-9 MAC) shot just 29.4% from the field in an 82-64 loss to Buffalo on Saturday. Kent State was outscored 25-10 in the second quarter and trailed by 20 at halftime. An 8-0 run four minutes into the third period cut the deficit to 11, but that was as close as the Flashes could get. Katie Shumate led the way with 18 points while Nila Blackford (9 points, 9 rebounds) and Lindsey Thall (11 points, 9 rebounds) were close to double-doubles.
Kent State has defeated a pair of Power 5 opponents this season. The Flashes rank 31st in the nation in three-pointers per game (8.1) and 38th in three-point field goal percentage (.352).
The All-MAC trio of junior Katie Shumate (12.5 ppg), junior Nila Blackford (11.3 ppg) and senior Lindsey Thall (11.0 ppg) have led Kent State offensively. Blackford grabs a team-best 9.3 rebounds per game and is averaging a double-double (11.8 ppg, 10.0 rpg) in conference action. Sophomore Casey Santoro has been one of the nation's most productive non-starters with averages of 10.6 points and 3.0 assists per game while ranking fourth in the MAC with a 1.91 assist-to-turnover ratio. Freshman Bridget Dunn (9.5 ppg) has made a team-high 46 three-point fields on the season. Senior Hannah Young (7.1 ppg, 5.8 rpg) has helped the Flashes dominate opponents on the glass.
Scouting Bowling Green
The Falcons (14-13, 9-9 MAC) evened their conference record with an 81-76 win over Miami on Saturday. Bowling Green is scoring 73.4 points per game and makes 7.9 three-pointers per contest. The Falcons' 37.7% accuracy from behind the three-point arc ranks seventh nationally.
Six players average more than eight points per game. Forward Kadie Hempfling (11.8 ppg) averaged 23.3 points over the last two games. Guards Elissa Brett (10.9 ppg) and Amy Velasco (10.8 ppg) are also double-digit scorers on the season. Guard Morgan Sharps (9.4 ppg) has made a team-high 58 three-pointers and ranks eighth in the country in three-point field goal percentage (.446). Guard Nyla Hampton (8.7 ppg) scored a career-high 23 points against Kent State last Monday and is third in the conference with 2.7 steals per game. Forward/center Zoe Miller (8.1 ppg) has not played the past four games.
