CLARKSVILLE, TN- Richie Dell pitched six strong innings and the Flashes erupted for a six-run third in a 7-5 series-opening victory over Austin Peay.

Dell allowed a run and scattered five hits while striking out seven in picking up his first victory of the season. Dell faced five or fewer batters in five of six innings.

The Flashes' big inning got started with a Kyle Jackson infield single. Justin Kirby wasted little time bringing home Jackson, doubling down the left field line. Aidan Longwell brought home Kirby to make it 2-0. A Mack Timbrook suicide squeeze made it 3-0 and Collin Mathews put an exclamation mark on the inning with a mammoth 433-foot shot to left. The three-run shot made it 6-0 Golden Flashes.

The Governors answered with their lone run off Dell in the bottom of the third. It would stay 6-1 into the seventh. The Flashes would use a single, double and intentional walk to load the bases. Timbrook answered the call again, this time with a sacrifice fly to center to make it 7-1.

Austin Peay rallied in the eighth. After loading the bases, a sac fly, single and triple plated four runs to make it 7-5. Evan Wolf played the role of fireman, coming into get a big strikeout to end the threat.

Aidan Longwell continued to play his double-duty role and came in to get the final three outs. The lefty induced a double play ground ball and a flyout to close it out and finished the day with the save in addition to a pair of hits a run scored and a run batted in.

Due to rain forecasted on Sunday, the teams will play a traditional double header on Saturday. First pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m. ET/noon central.
